Overview

The 07 nights and 08 days journey on Palace on Wheels covers some fascinating northern and north- western Indian destinations. The itinerary is set in a way so that the guests can experience the puzzle board of these deliberately chosen destinations where nature unfurls its various forms and colors. Each destination is different from the others and thus presents multiple shades of India to its visitors. For the assistance of the guests, the train journey and day-wise schedule are presented as follows:

Day 1 – Delhi: The National Capital of India

 
India's capital city, Delhi depicts the myriad colours of different kinds of lifestyles that are a mix of contemporary and traditional sensibilities. It is a reservoir of cultures, traditions and politics. A visit to its several architectural masterpieces of ancient and medieval times, is always a delight.
16:00 HRS: Reporting at Safdarjung Railway Station for check in formalities.
18:30 HRS: Leaving for Jaipur.
Dinner aboard the royal Palace on Wheels.
 

Day 2 – Jaipur: The Pink City

 
Founded in 1727 and the former capital of the Kachwaha rulers, Jaipur today is a versatile tourist
destination. Famed as the 'Pink City', this capital city of Rajasthan boasts of a rich historical past that is depicted in its forts, palaces, havelis and its colourful bazaars.

Albert Hall Museum, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, and City Palace.

17:00 HRS: Exploration of local markets in Jaipur.
19:00 HRS: Return to the train.

Day 3 – Sawai Madhopur: / Chittorgarh

 
Sawai Madhopur is a beautiful city of Rajasthan, which is extremely popular for housing the world-
renowned Ranthambore National Park. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the historic Ranthambore
Fort is an added attraction. It was a planned city that was founded by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I of Jaipur.

Popular for the tales of valour and romance of its erstwhile royalty, Chittorgarh was the former capital of the Sisodia clan of Mewar. Placed on the banks of rivers Gambhiri and Berach, this city has magnificent forts, ruined castles and glorious royal structures. Chittorgarh has a total of 7 huge entries.

Day 4 – Udaipur: City of Lake

 
Also known as the 'City of Lakes' Udaipur is called Rajasthan's most romantic city because of its
picturesque setting, Rajputana palaces and lakes. The erstwhile capital of the Mewar kingdom,
Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II. The city boasts of innumerable tourist
attractions.

Day 5 – Jaisalmer: The Golden City

 
Nicknamed as the Golden City, the city of Jaisalmer is very well-known for its Jaisalmer fort. This city has been named after Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput ruler who had established the city in 1156 AD. The city every year hosts its annual Dessert Festival, which is a major crowd puller.

Day 6 – Jodhpur: The Blue City

 
Also known as the 'Sun City' and the 'Blue City', Jodhpur was the erstwhile capital city of the kingdom of Marwar. Now a popular tourist destination, this city is quite famous for its proximity to the Thar desert and for its magnificent forts. It is dotted with innumerable attractions, worth visiting.

Day 7 – Bharatpur / Agra

 
Considered to be an impregnable city, Bharatpur was the erstwhile capital of the Jat Kingdom and
now is a famous tourist destination. Also called Lohagarh, this city houses the very well-known
Keoladeo Ghana National Park or Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary is a haven for bird
watchers.
 
Situated on the banks of river Yamuna, the Mughal city of Agra also finds its mention in the Hindu
epic of Mahabharat. The city houses 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Taj Mahal, one of
the Seven Wonders of the World. The city is a blend of the old and the new worlds.

Palace on Wheels Departure Schedule

 
The Palaces on Wheels operates between September to April every year. On its scheduled journeys, it departs every Wednesday from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi. All guests must report for
check-in at 4:00 PM before the train chugs along to the next destination.

Palace on Wheels Fare
The Palace on Wheels tariff is charged as per the occupancy level of the cabins – single, double, and triple occupancy. Each level of occupancy has a separate fare per person per night journey.
The train tariff for the lean & peak season of 2024 – 2025, along with terms & conditions and booking & cancellation policy, are mentioned below. The tariff is valid till September 2023 & April 2024, and notable seasonal departures may include additional costs.

Terms & Conditions

Children below the age of 5 years can travel with a 10% of charge of the total cost of the journey. For children in the age group of 5 to 12 years, half of the journey cost will be charged. At the time of issuance of tickets, age proof certificate of the child / children needs to be furnished. For special festive departures like Christmas (25th December) and New Year (1st January), a surcharge of 10% will be added on the total fare of the Palace on Wheels train tour.
On total journey price of Palace on Wheels, GST @ 5% will be applicable.
The above mentioned tariff is subject to change without a prior notification.
 

The fare covers the following

Travel, catering, conducted sightseeing, entrance fee at monuments / parks / palaces, cultural
programs, camel ride at Jaisalmer, boat ride at Udaipur and rickshaw ride at Bharatpur.
 

The fare doesn’t covers the following

Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, business car facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.
 

Booking Policy

For the fully independent travelers (FITs)
20% of the tariff at the time of the confirmation of the booking.
Remaining 80% of the tariff needs to be paid 60 days prior to departure.
 

Cancellation Policy

In case of FITs
10% of ticket value 90 days or more prior to departure date.
20% of ticket value between 89 to 30 days prior to departure date.
100% of ticket value 29 days prior to departure date
No show/ En route termination of tour / amendment:
Non-arrival – In case of Non-arrival of the guest, no refund or adjustment in future travel will be possible. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited.
En route termination of tour – In case of termination of tour by the guest for any reason, no refund or adjustment for future travel will be possible. The amount for the unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited.
Amendment – This is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disasters / Natural Calamities or Serious Health Problems (this needs to be supported by a doctor’s certificate) and is subject to availability. No refunds are possible, and every case will be decided on merits on a case-to- case basis. No amendment will be permissible in case of booking of groups or complete train.

Note:-
Irrespective of above mentioned cancellation slabs, in case of cancellation of tour / travel/ train services (due to whatsoever reason) by yourself (by client) after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charge would be applicable on total cost of the tour package.
Irrespective of above mentioned cancellation slabs, in case of cancellation of tour / travel/ train services (due to whatsoever reason) by us (by company) after the booking is made by us – Following two options are available:
Client would be provided with Credit Note for the booking amount paid and same can be used
anytime in the future by the client for themselves or any of their family members, friends, or anyone else as recommended by them.
In case the client wants the refund – then a minimum 10% service charge would be applicable on the
total cost of the tour package and remaining amount (after deducting this 10% service charge) would be refunded.
In above both the situation – the cancellation charges, as applicable for cancellation of services
related to flight tickets/ train tickets/ hotel bookings/ travel services / Guide services would also be recovered from the client.
